01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Step through the door of Riku’s bakery in the residential neighbourhood of Hasune, and the comforting aroma of freshly baked wheat greets you immediately. Batards and baguettes kneaded with natural yeast offer an unpretentious flavour that lets the flour speak for itself, backed by a satisfyingly springy, chewy crumb. The croissants, with delicate layers flaking on the outside and moist dough within, stay nicely balanced without feeling overly buttery, making them easy to enjoy every day. A moist, finely textured shokupan loaf is also on hand, ideal for slicing thick, toasting, and finishing with a simple pat of butter at breakfast.

Beyond table breads, the bakery stocks an appealing range of treats for an afternoon break. Soft white dough encasing tender sweet potato, naturally fermented loaves studded with poppy-textured figs, and walnut anpan with a subtle touch of salt all showcase the gentle sweetness of their base ingredients. With crisp-topped melonpan, nostalgic custard cream buns, crunchy curry bread with tomato, and savoury oyaki flatbakes, picking out a few favourites onto your tray feels easy and fun.

The shop operates exclusively for takeout, with the main batches coming out of the oven around 11:00. Business hours run across two daily windows on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays: morning service from 10:30 to 13:00, and afternoon service from 15:00 to 17:30, with a midday break between 13:00 and 15:00. Payment is cash only, so having some coins ready makes your visit seamless.
